Tilery Curriculum Intent Statement

The Tilery Curriculum embraces our ethos and values. We strive to offer a curriculum that gives children the best possible start to their education by developing their independence, curiosity, imagination and desire to learn. Our curriculum is carefully designed to ensure coverage and progression, provide pupils with engaging experiences, which enable children to develop a range of transferable and interpersonal skills, to build resilience and to become creative, critical thinkers. The Tilery Curriculum aims to raise aspirations, stimulate a sense of personal pride in achievement and provide a purpose and relevance for learning. Our ambition is for every child to discover their strengths and interests, to leave our school with a memorable collection of learning experiences, to be respectful and tolerant of differences and ultimately be equipped to make a positive contribution to their community and wider society.

Curriculum Equality

Good Classroom practice should use a range of teaching styles, strategies and methods to meet the different needs of pupils, allowing for different paces, styles of learning, capabilities, interests and experience of pupils

We aim to provide all our pupils with the opportunity to succeed, and to reach the highest level of personal achievement. There is consistently high expectation of all pupils regardless of their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, age or any other recognised area of discrimination.

To do this we, at Tilery Primary, will:

provide equality of access for all pupils and prepare them for life in a diverse society;
use materials that reflect a range of cultural backgrounds, without stereotyping;
use materials to promote a positive image of and attitude towards disability and disabled people;
promote attitudes and values that will challenge discriminatory behaviour;
provide opportunities for pupils to appreciate their own culture and religions and celebrate the diversity of other cultures;
use a range of sensitive teaching strategies when teaching about different cultural and religious traditions;
provide educational visits and extended learning opportunities that involve all pupil groups;
identify resources and training that support staff development;
ensure adults in the school provide good, positive role models in their approach to all issues relating to equality of opportunity .
